Back in October, I had the opportunity to attend the yearly 2:1 Conference with some of my very best blogging friends. It was an amazing experience in so many different ways, and I am so excited to share all about it.
This conference was full of fun, homeschool inspiration, blogging and social media knowledge, and more free swag than my poor little suitcases could handle (literally).
What is the 2:1 Conference?
So what is the 2:1 Conference exactly? Basically, it is an annual conference (from a Christian perspective) that is geared towards bloggers who homeschool and are active in social media. It was started by the amazing Cheryl Pitt back in 2011 and has been going strong since.
The 2:1 conference is educational, inspiring and entertaining on so many different levels, and definitely blesses the lives of everyone who attends.
Learn Blogging Strategies that Apply to Your Niche
Every year Cheryl picks outstanding speakers who teach the attendees about a topic they have a lot of knowledge in. Topics at this year’s convention included:
- Working with a virtual assistant
- Making money through your email list
- Tips for live streaming
- Conquering affiliate marketing
- Planning a social media campaign
plus so much more.
(Thank you to the amazing Alexis Mathews for allowing me to share her photo.)
After each session I attended, I was floored with how much I had learned in such a small amount of time. There was new information to learn about topics I thought I had already mastered.
I left each session feeling so inspired, feeling like I could truly conquer the blogging world. I couldn’t wait to start applying these techniques to not only my own blog, and projects for my clients.
Connect with Companies and Sponsors
There are many companies who sponsor the 2:1 Conference and they all want to meet and talk to you!
Throughout the entire weekend, there were many sponsors on-site that we were able to meet and mingle with. We learned about what kind of products or services they had to offer. We were also able to make connections that had the potential to turn into outstanding business opportunities down the road.
Some of the sponsors at this years 2:1 Conference included:
… and much more!
Gain Homeschool (and Life) Inspiration
Each day there were multiple keynote speakers who spoke about homeschooling. Their talks were incredibly inspirational and helped me realize that as a homeschooling and work at home mom, I’m not ruining my children.
The keynote speakers lifted us up with stories about their own experiences. One example of this was Zan Tyler from Apologia. She shared stories from her legal struggles as a homeschooler during a time when homeschooling wasn’t as widely accepted.
Mentor Groups took the inspiration to a whole new level. In a session I attended, Colleen Kessler helped us all realize that we each have our own unique voice and that someone out there needs to hear what we have to say.
Her words and encouragement were so amazing and uplifting. She helped me remember I too can rock this thing that we do: blog.
We were even given the opportunity (and tools) to sit together and create our own dream board. Erica from Chaotic Blessing supplied us with motivational stickers, and the team and sponsors provided art supplies. We spent time with our friends laying out our dreams right in front of us for motivation.
This was a great way for us to remember why we are all doing whatever it is we do, and why we work so hard to reach our goals.
Meet Blogging Friends
Perhaps one of my favorite parts of this conference (if I could even pick a favorite part because it was all amazing) was finally getting a chance to meet some of my very favorite blogging friends in person.
Before 2:1 I had built these amazing friendships via facebook messages, forums, Periscope, and Voxer. Being able to finally hug these friends and laugh with them in person was so incredible.
I was also given the opportunity to mix and mingle with so many people I had never met before. Many of whom I had only read their words through their own blogs. I was truly blessed to make many new and amazing friendships and connections during the 2:1 conference.
Get Spoiled Rotten
When I say you get spoiled rotten at 2:1, I’m not kidding! There was so much swag!
Companies such as Apologia and BJU Press were constantly giving us more and more free stuff. We received curriculum, books, treats, gift certificates, and more.
(Unfortunately, I was unable to get a good picture of all the swag. Trust me, there was a lot!)
Every time we went to a new session – there was another package of swag waiting for us at our seats. On the first night, when we checked into our hotel room, there was a bag of goodies there to greet us.
We received so much swag that many had to buy boxes to ship their books home in because they wouldn’t be able to travel with them. I had to buy a separate suitcase just to bring all of my goodies home.
We were also spoiled rotten with wonderful edibles as well. From the amazing sponsored brunch to the mind blowing s’more bar, we were able to get to know one another better while indulging on fantastic food.
